THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE PURCHASING LESSONS

Permits/Licenses

All students must either have a valid CA learner's permit or driver's license from CA, other US State or Foreign Country). Permits/Licenses must be in the possession of the student/driver whenever driving and during all lessons.

Minimum Number of Lessons

All students under 18 yrs of age are required by the DMV to complete at least 6 hours of instruction (3 two-hour lessons).

Practice, Practice, Practice

The DMV requires all students under 17½ to hold their permits for 6 month after the issue date. During those 6 months students must practice driving behind-the-wheel for a minimum of 50 hours (40 in the day and 10 at night) with a CA licensed adult (25 yrs or older).

While 6 hours of professional instruction is the minimum the DMV requires, we have found that our 10 and 20 hour packages give students the best opportunity to become safe and confident drivers. Any professional instruction above the 6 hour minimum may be counted towards the required 50 hours of practice.

Prior to taking the DMV Drive Test

Minor drivers must have the following in order to take the DMV road test:

  • Learner's Permit signed by student, instructor and parent

  • Minimum 6 hours of professional instruction

  • Certificate of completion of behind the wheel instruction

  • Minimum 50 hours of practice with CA licensed adult over 25

  • Minimum 10 hours of practice at night with CA licensed adult over 25

  • Have been practicing with permit for at least 6 months

  • Appointment at DMV for the Behind-the-Wheel drive test
